NEW AGE UPDATE
The interesting thing about living New Age rules is that there are no rules. This doesn’t mean that everybody is ignorant. In fact quite the opposite, everybody is an expert regardless of who you talk to in the world and how diverse their theory is.
Interestingly, this never leads to contradictions, because it works for the individual and that is all that is expected.
Of course there really are rules and borders within this philosophy. They are simply presumed and not discussed. Spirits do exist and there is no debate about it.
I asked a spiritualist how and why she knew spirits exist and she told me, “Because I talk to them”.
I asked if it could possibly be something else aside from spirits. She looked me in the eyes with a passive aggressive smile and said,”No dear of course not”.
Many New Agers believe we all know all the answers to the universe becuse we are part of the universe. We just haven’t reached the answers yet.
This makes for interesting conversation.
“I feel a lot of the insecurity you have is to do with strong abuse in a past life,” one guy said to me.
“Reincarnation?” I asked.
“Well yes, past lives,”
“But what if I don’t believe in reincarnation?”
“Don’t worry you will,” he said. “It’s very true”.
“Do you have any reason for believing in reincarnation?”
“Yes because I have had past lives”.
Aside from a few confusing conversations, living New Age hasn’t been too bad. Eating unprocessed, organic primary foods has felt really good and is great for our planet.
New Agers are not only concerned with their own well being, but take personal responsibility for the state of their planet. All actions are taken with careful consideration for all stakeholders. I have tried to avoid driving at all costs. I waste as little as possible. Everything I touch I think, who was affected to get this product here and who will it affect when I leave it. It is surprising how this type of thinking affects you.
Trying to do yoga and meditation in the morning has been refreshing. I am up early and I have time to consider life, a higher power and a higher purpose. However I do get distracted and start thinking about the game in Christchurch this weekend, and who will be full back, and will Jonah ever play in New Zealand again.
I have been learning about tarot cards and numerology, but have not had anyone do my readings, as part of the deal was that we do not pay any money when studying a religion.
We have finally located a ‘real’ haunted house which we are negotiating to stay in for a night. We have yet to go to a spiritualist church service (planned for next week) and the psychics will only talk to us if we pay them $2.99 a minute. Even more elusive is an alien abductee.

I like your wholistic approach Frank. Do you think the lack of 'care' their appears to be about the planet with many in the Christian scene has much to do with these silly stories of the 'end times' such as the Left Behind series??
